The story of do.t.e. wines began with Filippo Calabresi’s discovery of a vineyard in Cortona. In 2014, he recovered old plantings of Syrah and Viognier, the former a grape variety that was no stranger to him as
he previously ran Tenimenti d’Alessandro along with fellow winemaker Stefano Amerighi.
Using grapes from 2 hectares acquired from Tenimenti d’Alessandro, Filippo continues this legacy today with his own personal label.
The name do.t.e. stands for ‘down to earth’, reflecting his mission statement to produce wine without the use chemical substances
in either the vineyard or cellar. He carries out fermentation in
a number of different vessels, ranging from cement vats to terra cotta and neutral barrels. With this experimental approach, Filippo produces wines that can be anything from feather light and ethereal to deep and structured in texture. For the most part, his wines are monovarietal, each showing a different interpretation of his rich and varied terroir.
