NIK & MIK
Mosel
Nik & Mik is a venture between Michael Wagner von Wohlgemuthheim and Niklas Peltzer, friends with deep experience in the industry, who both hail from the Mosel. The project was born from both their friendship and a joint passion for the area where they grew up.
Michael has spent his entire winemaking career on the steep Mosel slopes, running his own 4 hectare winery since 2010. Niklas was previously manager at Meinklang in Austria, and has worked across the natural wine scene for many years, including as an agent for small producers.
Their friendship naturally lead to countless of conversations about the uniqueness of the Mosel, its terroir and the number of abandoned vineyards scattered across the region. Together, they wanted to create honest, accessible wines that highlight these qualities.
They started buying grapes from farmers who struggle to get a fair price for their grapes, as well as breathing new life into abandoned vineyards with organic agriculture. The wines are all vinified at Michael’s winery in Merl. Their vision is to create honest pure expressions of the Mosel, at a fair price, without compromising on precision. The labels are a nod to this, being inspired by the old labels that were once typical of the region.
The result is a series of wines that speak clearly of their place. Pure, precise and above all, affordable - Mosel without the fuss.
